Terms of Use

Who we are
Muse is run by Follow the Rabbit LLC (“we”), 1248 West Ave., Port Orchard, WA 98366. You can write to us at [email protected]. By using Muse you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.
Using Muse
You must be at least 13 years old. Anyone can read without an account. To post, keep, save, reply or send a piece on, you sign in with your email: there is no password, and you are responsible for what happens under your account. Please keep one account per person.
We may ask you to verify a phone number before your first counting action, to stop one person voting from several accounts. We may suspend or close accounts that abuse Muse, including accounts used to cast extra votes.
Your writing stays yours
You own everything you post. Post only work you wrote yourself and have the right to post. Work written by AI, in whole or in part, is not allowed, and you confirm that each time you post.
The license you give Muse
When you post a piece, you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store it and show it on Muse, on the web and in our apps. That includes showing it to readers without your name, showing your name when a reader sends it on and on its shared page, making previews, share cards and short excerpts of it (for example in link previews and in emails that feature a rising piece, which never name the writer), and playing an audio reading if you added one.
The license is not exclusive: you can publish the piece anywhere else. We will not use your work to train AI models and will not license it to anyone who does.
The license ends when you withdraw the piece or close your account. The piece then leaves Muse and its link stops working. Copies kept in our backups are removed within 30 days. Pieces that other people have already sent on, or saved as images, may still exist on their own devices.
Posting here is not publishing in Inkhorn Review
Posting on Muse is posting before the public. Journals with a no-prior-publication rule are likely to consider a piece posted here as previously published. Inkhorn Review does not treat Muse posts as published, but we cannot speak for other journals. Check their guidelines before you send them a piece that is on Muse.
Muse can bring pieces to the attention of Inkhorn Review and for seasonal chapbooks. Being shortlisted gives no rights to anyone. If a piece is selected for publication, you will be offered a separate written agreement, and you are free to say no.
Reading and responding
Keep, pass, save, reply and send on as you like, and be kind. Do not post or send anything that is unlawful, hateful, threatening, or that targets or harasses a person, and do not post other people’s work as your own. You can report a piece or a reply, and we may hide or remove anything, and close accounts, to keep Muse a good place to read.
Post credits and membership
Posting uses credits: one for a poem or micro prose piece, three for flash prose. You earn credits by reading and by bringing readers who stay, you can buy three for $4 (once a month), and members receive credits each month. Credits never expire, have no cash value, and cannot be transferred.
Memberships are monthly or yearly and renew until you cancel. You can cancel at any time and the membership continues to the end of the period you paid for. A change to a lower plan takes effect at the next renewal. Payments are handled by Stripe and RevenueCat, and we never see your card number. Payments are not refundable except where the law requires, or where we decide to make an exception.
Our service and its limits
Muse is provided as it is. We work to keep it running and correct, but we cannot promise it will always be available or error-free, and we may change or end features. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $100 if you paid nothing.
Changes, law and contact
We may update these terms. When we do, we will change the date at the top, and if the change matters we will tell you by email or on Muse. Using Muse after a change means you accept it. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington. Questions are welcome at [email protected].
